Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

- Proverbs 11:14

Good decisions are a result of good context, evaluated with good frameworks and guided by good principles that you hold true.

Good context = All relevant information to do with the situation at hand.

“Have we gotten all relevant perspectives on this situation?”

“Who are the people that would know most about this situation?”

“Have I as the leader provided the relevant context needed by my team to make the decision?”

Good frameworks = A set of decision making frameworks that help you simplify and bring clarity to your thinking.

Good principles = A set of values that helps you understand what is most important to you.

If you have to help your team make the same decision over and over, you're probably missing a principle that would help them easily reach that decision alone.

“How do we expect to treat one another?”

“How do we agree to pay our employees?”

“How do we choose who to hire?”

Finally remember, good decisions take time.

Make sure to budget enough time so that you can collect the relevant context, run them through the relevant frameworks, guided by your principles so that you can make good decisions.
